Kenworth truck gets overhauled for wilderness trips

An enthusiast named Charlie dreamt about building an original camper that would be both practical and attention-grabbing. He procured a Kenworth truck that had been sitting around motionless for 12 years and grabbed an Airstream trailer on sale to merge the two into his dream motorhome.

He started by repairing the original Kenworth using Volvo parts and putting the Airstream camping module on top of it. Getting inside is possible through the cab thanks to a door inside the cab.

According to Charlie, the resulting camper is fairly comfortable with a kitchen on board, a living room, a bedroom and plenty of furniture and equipment. The entire living area doesn’t exceed 10 square meters (107 square feet), but it seems quite enough. With propane tanks on board, you could spent an entire winter away from civilization living in a truck like this.

As for the power source, the talented tuner says he took a Cummins KTTA inline-six engine and upgraded it with dual turbochargers to over 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts).
