Kia has facelifted the EV version of its Ray microvan in South Korea, equipping it with a new electric motor and a larger battery pack and bringing the exterior in line with its 2023MY petrol counterpart. Prices on the domestic market start from 27,350,000 KRW ($20,200) for the commercial version, while the passenger version is a bit more expensive.
The microvan has traded its old 68-PS (67-hp / 50-kW) motor for a more capable unit rated at 87 PS (86 hp / 64 kW). Perhaps more importantly, the old 16.4-kWh battery has been replaced with a much larger 35.2-kWh one. As a result, the new Ray EV can travel 233 km on a charge instead of just 138.
Other than that, the model now has updated headlights, new bumpers and a redesigned radiator grille with a built-in charging port. Inside, updates have been made to the dashboard, the center console, the glove compartment, the steering wheel and the HVAC panel.
Like its petrol counterpart, the electric Ray is available in two main flavors: five-passenger microvan and commercial vehicle. The latter can be optioned with two front seats or just the driver’s.
