Nearly 1,000 engines stolen from Kia India factory

A recent audit of Kia’s industrial complex in India revealed an elaborate theft scheme that saw the company miss out on more than 900 powertrain units.

The local police have enough evidence to claim that the factory workers ran a whole criminal organization to cover up the embezzlement of parts over the past five years. An investigation is underway.

The factory in question has a nominal production capacity of 300,000 vehicles per year. It produces Kia Carens, Seltos, Sonet, and Syros.
