Video: Lamborghini Gallardo gets diesel-swapped for a good reason

A tuning shop known as 1 Way Diesel Performance took hold of a Lamborghini Gallardo not long ago and replaced its stock 5.0-liter petrol V10 with a Cummins inline-six diesel.

The reason for the whole project to exist is that the car, which rolled off the factory in 2004, ended up a complete write-off after a severe road incident. The tuners still decided to try to revive it – and obviously succeeded.

The swap necessitated an expansion of the engine bay originally designed to accommodate only five cylinders lengthwise. A large dual-turbo kit was also installed, and the stock exhaust system was deleted in favor of short pipes exiting straight from under the hood.

It is unknown how much the new engine makes. One assumption that we heard is that it could actually surpass the original V10 with its 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW). For the transmission, we know it is six-speed manual.

A new body kit, performance brakes and a redesigned interior round off the impressive one-off project.
