Video: Lambo Urus camper owner sums up first year, recounts funny moments

Few supercar owners are crazy enough to convert their luxury ride into a home on wheels, but we are lucky to have Connor, from Colorado, who did exactly that with his Lamborghini Urus. Here’s what he has to say about camping in a car worth as much as a stationary home.

Getting straight to the point, the Urus may be a great crossover, but it wasn’t meant for life in the wilderness, and it shows. Among other things, its bezel-free windows can’t hold mosquito nets, its rear lights are too dim to back up confidently when it’s dark outside, and its otherwise fine seats lack adjustable headrests. Connor was able to improvise a bed at the back row, but it’s not a particularly comfortable one.

In his first year of travel spanning 16 countries and around 32,000 km (20,000 miles), the driver only needed to tow the Urus to a repair shop once. An o-ring gave way on an air vacuum hose, and he didn’t have a replacement handy. The rest of the issues were minor: the front splitter broke on one occasion, the interior lighting switch failed, and that was about it. For a luxury SUV out of its element, this result is actually kind of impressive.

Watch the video for a selection of ten short stories Connor found worth telling us about his unique experience. And head straight to Camperghini on YouTube for more. By the way, once he has replaced the bumpers and installed a tent on the roof for an improvement in sleep quality, Connor plans to continue his journey.
