Range Rover Sport SV bows with 635 PS, 23-inch wheels

What used to be known as the Range Rover Sport SVR is now referred to simply as ‘SV’. The letter R goes the way of the dodo along with the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8. Instead, the new generation utilizes a mildly hybridized 4.4-liter BMW V8 TT.

The engine makes 635 PS (626 hp / 467 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The top spec needs 3.6 seconds to go from zero to 97 km/h (60 mph) and hits its speed ceiling at 290 km/h (180 mph). For a crossover SUV weighing in at 2,560 kilos (5,644 pounds), these are impressive numbers indeed. You can make it shed another 36 kilos (80 pounds) by opting for a 23-inch carbon-fiber wheel set. Replacing the hood and some brake components will bring the total weight savings to 76 kilos (168 pounds).

The Range Rover Sport SV comes with an intriguing feature. Its front seats come equipped with vibrating sensors that emit vibes in tune with the music currently being played. The audio system is no slouch, either – it’s a 29-speaker Meridian set rated at 1,430W.

Land Rover says all Range Rover Sport SV units planned for sale within the first production year will be Edition One units reserved for the company’s favorite clients.
