Lexus LC bows out after nine years of production

The prestigious and opulent Lexus LC – both the coupe and the convertible variants – will drop out of production in later summer, Road & Track claims citing own sources. A successor might arrive later, but it looks like there will be a gap left in the lineup for the next couple of years.

Lexus has confirmed that the LC is on its way out, but didn’t provide any specifics. Road & Track claims it managed to get an unofficial comment from a dealership stating it will be in August. Since the company still has to produce the Japan-exclusive Pinnacle Edition, we expect dealership stock to run out in a month or two.

The automaker reported selling a total of 15,000 LC units over these nine years, a solid result for a car as desirable and expensive as the LC. No plans for a successor have been announced yet, unless you count the all-electric LFA Concept revealed in December. Rumors claim the next LC may be based on the same platform as the electric LFA, but this frankly sounds like premature speculation.
