Liberty Walk pretends the Land Cruiser is a supercar, neglects to make it so

The Japanese tuner’s latest project isn’t a posh supercar butchered with extreme JDM antics, but a Toyota Land Cruiser 250 a.k.a. Prado pretending to be one.

You wouldn’t normally expect a Land Cruiser to pose as a highway sprinter, yet here we are thanks to Liberty Walk. What used to be an off-roader got slammed with the help of some lowering springs, had its tracks widened and its footwear changed to 24-inch Vossen wheels and Toyo Tires Proxes ST III rubber. Since it was a SEMA show collaboration with car lighting vendor Alpharex, it also ended up with upmarket head- and taillights from the Nova series.

Any Liberty Walk vehicle must wear an over-the-top aero kit to qualify, and the LC is no exception. Here it is seen wearing a redesigned front bumper with large air intakes and integrated DRLs, a hood with a decorative trim on it and huge bolt-on fenders. Additions at the rear include a diffuser, bumper add-ons, a tailgate spoiler and a protruding roof wing.

Where this Liberty Walk ride doesn’t walk the talk is the powertrain. Its iForce Max hybrid system pumps out the usual 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque, so taking it to the track isn’t a good idea.

All components are already available. The full body kit seen here costs U.S. $8,800, the giant wheels add a cool $18,850 on top of that, and you’ll have to ask the tuner for a quotation on those springs and spacers.
