Saudi Arabia police adds Lucid Air EVs with aerial drones to its fleet

The world’s first Lucid Air interceptor vehicle has just debuted in El Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Compared to its civilian counterpart, the electric police car received a customary black and white paint scheme with a quadcopter box on the roof and a landing platform next to it. Whenever the police may need the copter, the lid of the box springs up and clears it for takeoff. The press release fails to mention the trim level of the base car or any copter specs.

Lucid started assembling Air EVs in Saudi Arabia last fall using premade car kits shipped from Arizona, USA. The company has made around 800 units in the country so far.

According to an agreement Lucid signed with the Saudi government in 2022, the company pledges to deliver 100,000 EVs to the country over the next decade. At this point, 62% of the company stock is owned by one of the country’s state-owned investment funds. The Saudi investment in Lucid is currently estimated at $10 billion.
