Mazda2 & CX-3 get an infotainment upgrade in Japan

The Japanese domestic variants of the Mazda2 and CX-3 have received another refresh for the next model year, Carscoops reports. One of the novelties comes in the form of an 8.8-inch multimedia system packed with new design features and connected services.

The latest Mazda Connect has a standalone touchscreen display and can make emergency and support calls, as well as pinpoint the location of the car on the map and toggle various functions from the smartphone. Mazda stresses that the remote control functionality was implemented upon customers’ requests. The new CX-3 has the system already included in the base trim, while the Mazda2 ships without it – but you can always order it for a premium.

The Mazda2 received its second mid-life refresh in early 2023. The BD and XD BD trim levels received an optional package called Sci-Fi that included Lime Green accents for the grille, the wheels and the rear spoiler. Other customization options have been added to the list, too.

The Mazda CX-3 received a special edition called Vivid Monotone. Finished in Aero Gray Metallic, the limited series has a blacked-out grille, roof, 18-inch wheels and plastic body kit. The interior received vivid color accents inspired by sportswear, and the stock 1.8-liter turbo diesel was improved, too, but the company never revealed any specifics.

Both models cost a little more after the upgrade. The hatchback is set to go on sale in Japan at the end of the year priced from ¥1,548,000 ($10,420). The crossover SUV will follow it in February 2024 expected to start from ¥2,279,200 ($15,800).
