Tuned Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S runs a quarter-mile in just barely over 10 s

As you know, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe comes powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine good for 640 hp (470 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb×ft) of torque. It accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and tops out at 315 km/h (196 mph). But what if you persuade it to give more than that by virtue of some ECU tuning? This is what Renntech tried to find out.

Once done, the German sports car ascended to a stellar 794 horsepower (584 kW) along with 1,084 Nm (798 lb×ft) of torque. The tuned GT 63 S then proceeded to set a new class record at the Palm Beach International Raceway by finishing a quarter-mile in just 10 seconds and 652 milliseconds. It accelerated to 204 km/h (127 mph) as it did so.

Renntech sells its “R” upgrade kit for a steep U.S. $3,480. If you think this is too much for a mere ECU remap, consider that a new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe starts from U.S. $159,000.
