Check out a stretched and armored Mercedes-AMG G 63

Aftermarket auto shop Klassen adds one meter of length to the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and encases the entire car in high-grade ballistic armor. Prices are available upon request only.

Judging by the specifics of the project, the armor will set customers back even more than a new range-topping G-Class will. The armoring process begins with the car being cut in half and a 1,016-millimeter (39.7-inch) body extension inserted into the gap. This results in a vehicle 5,897 mm (19.35 feet) long with 3,906 mm (12.81 feet) between the axles. The driveshaft also gets stretched, so the AWD system is preserved.

As far as the protection is concerned, Klassen uses VR8 – one of the best non-military grades of armor. It covers the entire body, including the underchassis and the fuel tank, and is complemented by multi-layer bulletproof glass. The suspension and tires get their own share of reinforcements to withstand the increased load (we were unable to find specific weight numbers).

There are no interior shots yet, but the company typically allows customers to dictate what should be inside the car. Options include a fire extinguishing system and a loudspeaker for communicating with the outside world.

Powering the ride is the standard 4.0-liter V8 TT rated at 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW) in tandem with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The added bulk and weight must have made the G-Class slower, but Klassen does not specify how much. The standard car can sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.5 seconds.

A while ago, the same tuner produced an armored car based on the older G-Wagen model (see video).
