Brabus rolls out a Rocket GTC DEEP RED clad in colored carbon

The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S Performance is considered a vehicle only one percent of the Earth’s population can afford, yet there are people for whom it’s not exclusive enough. Tuning firms like Brabus fill in the gap by creating one-off works of art like this Rocket GTC DEEP RED.

Even before any aftermarket mods, the hybrid system of the SL Roadster is good for 816 PS (805 hp / 600 kW). Once upgraded, it starts churning out 1,000 PS (985 hp / 735 kW). The torque goes all the way up to 1,817 Nm (1,340 lb-ft), so it gets electronically capped to prevent transmission damage.

The Rocket GTC sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.6 seconds and can ultimately hit 317 km/h (197 mph), which is impressive in any car let alone a convertible.

Then there’s the full-carbon bodywork colorized with a rich shade of red. Our favorites here include front fenders with passthrough vents, futuristic wheels with aerodynamic hubcaps and low, yet graceful rear wing. The cabin follows the same color scheme with off-red leather and matching carbon inserts.

Where things get truly wild is the origin history of this car. As we said above, it used to be a Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S Performance convertible in the past. What left unsaid is that Brabus initially converted it into a Rocket GTS, which had a Shooting Brake body. It then rebuilt the car into the GTC seen here, removing the roof for good this time around.

Owning a vehicle like this starts from around €700,000 before options.
