The new Nissan Z reached the U.S. sports car market just in time for a few major competitors to transition into their next generations. We will soon see how the Z will fare against them; in the meantime, let’s see how it fares against some of the regulars.
Throttle House has put up quite a spectacular company at the drag strip, pitting the Nissan Z against a Ford Mustang GT and a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. The Japanese ride brings a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 to the fight pumping out 405 PS (400 hp / 298 kW). The Mustang GT wields a formidable 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 rated at 466 PS (460 hp / 343 kW). Rounding off the trio is a Challenger with a monstrous 6.4-liter V8 rated at 492 PS (485 hp / 362 kW).
A price comparison between the three also yields interesting results. The Mustang GT starts from $39,440 in the States, while the Challenger Scat Pack 392 will set you back at least $46,650. The new Nissan Z is the most expensive at $51,015 before any options. All three use manual transmissions and RWD.
