Some of you may have noticed that shortly after premiering its lavish restomod named the All-Terrain Competition Study (ACS), tuner Singer Vehicle Design deleted all associated posts and media files from its pages. The reason is prosaic: copyright.
Apparently, the German sports car maker saw a problem with Singer’s extensive use of ‘Porsche’ captions throughout the car body and interior. Having said that, the tuner had been building restomods like this one inspired by Porsche 953 coupes for a while before the incident with no repercussions.
As such, the true reason behind the cease-and-desist order was that Porsche was going to launch a rally-capable 911 later into the year and did not want competition widely advertised. Recent spy shots seem to confirm this theory.
It remains to be seen how the events will unfold. We suppose Singer may as well opt for stripping the car of all the Porsche branding and re-uploading the materials.
Like many of its siblings, the off-road-ready Singer ACS draws inspiration from the original Porsche 953, a rally car built in 1984 for the Paris-Dakar Rally based on a 911 (964) model. It came powered by a dual-turbo flat-six engine with 3.6 liters of displacement.
