Singer makes some of the most coveted Porsche 911 restomods on the planet, and Chris Harris had a chance to test-drive one to his heart’s content not long ago. Watch the 20-minute video review to find out what the car does best and where you could drive it.
Straight from the beginning, Harris acknowledges that he took part in developing the car and therefore could not guarantee the objectivity of the review. Carrying out the work was the Singer division known as Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS for short). The goal was to keep the weight minimal and the output as high as the naturally aspirated block would allow.
A four-liter flat-six was used for the project. Developed by none other than the famous Hans Metzger, the mill has four valves per cylinder, spins up to 9,300 RPM and hits the rear wheels with 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW). Equipped like this, the restomod actually surpasses even the newest Porsche 911 GT3 (992) in terms of sheer acceleration power.
And the verdict? According to Harris, the car can be tons of fun on a dedicated track, but it feels like a handful on public roads. Despite grippy tires and robust brake calipers, it is simply too happy to kick out its tail and requires an experienced racing driver to keep it stable on the road.
