Ram has revealed a mid-size truck concept scheduled for production in Argentina in 2026. Once out, it will compete against the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux and Volkswagen Amarok in Brazil and other South American markets.
The name – “Ram Dakota Nightfall” – is a nod to the Dodge Dakota mid-size truck produced for the United States in 1986–2011. The exterior is completely different, however, and resembles that of the hardcore Ram 1500 TRX more than any other vehicle. It’s especially evident in the front fascia design, the air intake on the hood, the roll bar above the bed and the sporty overall outlines.
The show car is also depicted with 18-inch wheels featuring beadlock protection, 33-inch tires and Fox suspension parts. The beadlocks prevent the tires from sliding off due to low inflation pressure, and are typically used in off-road scenarios. There are also LED lights on the roll bar to support that use case.
While there are no technical details yet, it looks like the Dakota Nightfall uses the same body-on-frame chassis as the Fiat Titano, Peugeot Landtrek and Ram 1200. IF true, it may inherit their 2.2-liter turbo diesel rated at 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW).
