Carwow has sourced some of the world’s fastest-accelerating vehicles in the world for its latest drag race, putting a Red Bull Formula 1 car next to a McMurtry Speirling and a Rimac Nevera on the drag strip.
The Rimac commands four electric motors totaling 1,914 PS (1,888 hp / 1,408 kW) and 2,360 Nm (1,741 lb-ft) of torque. A 120-kW traction battery makes it weigh a cool 2.3 metric tons (5,070 pounds). Even so, the hypercar manages to launch itself from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under two seconds.
The McMurtry single-seater is the same car that beat the Goodwood hill climb record earlier this year. Its two e-motors drive the rear wheels alone and produce 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW). The car weighs as little as 1 metric ton (roughly 2,200 lbs) and takes advantage of a sophisticated aerodynamic fan setup that generates 2 tons (4,400 lbs) of downforce on the track.
Rounding off the impressive trio is a Red Bull F1 racecar piloted by the team’s reserve driver Liam Lawson. His car makes do with a 2.4-liter eight-cylinder engine rated at ‘just’ 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW), but the car itself is a track bullet weighing as little as 700 kilos (1,540 lbs).
The races turned out very intense with the lead passing from one driver to another and the outsider surprising everyone.
