A Batmobile replica based on a 1974 E9 BMW CSL Coupe has gone up on sale at Bring a Trailer. The car has around 74,000 kilometers (45,600 miles) on the counter. The current bid is U.S. $120,000.
The rare CSL 3.0 series emerged in just 57 units, out of which only four were painted green, like this example. It also boasts numerous motorsports-oriented upgrades.
The two-door coupe left the assembly line equipped with a 3.0-liter, inline-six engine, but one of its subsequent owners had it replaced with a stronger 3.5-liter unit. The current owner ditched that one in favor of a custom 3.2-liter mill designed by Terry Tine Perfomance Motors. The transmission is four-speed manual.
The classics underwent full restoration in 2015 and is reported to be in top condition. It even retains its original aerodynamic kit, which consists of wheel arch extensions, a front splitter, and large wheels.
The BMW CSL Batmobile has repeatedly taken part in contests and competitions. Earlier this year, it won the bronze award at the San-Marino Classical Car Show. In 2015, it scored gold at the Legends of the Autobahn.
