Exeed Sterra E05 shows up for the first time

The upcoming mid-size hybrid SUV known as the Exeed Sterra E05 (a.k.a. Exlantix E05) has been formally entered into the Ministry of Industry database in China, so here are its images and parameters.

If you experienced something like a déjà vu, you’re on to something. The car looks rather similar to the Exeed TXL and has the exact same body dimensions with the exception of height, which is a few millimeters (less than an inch) lower. To be specific, it is 4,780 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,725 mm tall with 2.8 meters between the axles.

The exterior is also the same as the TXL except for the radiator grille and the headlights. The front end is a solid panel with a trapezoid insert in the middle and Cayenne-style headlights at the sides. The rear end sports a solid light stripe with large chromed “Exeed” lettering in the middle, but is otherwise nothing we haven’t seen before.

From the technical perspective, the new Sterra E05 is a range-extender hybrid. It comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW), but isn’t linked to the wheels. Instead, it provides power for the main electric powertrain. All relevant details are pending.

According to the certification documents, customers in China will be choosing from wheel options ranging from 18 to 20 inches in diameter. They will also be able to pay extra for a modern semi-autonomous driving system powered by a Horizon Robotics Journey 6P chipset.
