Japanese tune-up shop Blitz has released a tuning kit named the DAMPER ZZ-R for the J150 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The package worth ¥198,000 is already available to pre-order, with shipments set to begin this fall.
Included in the offer are custom springs, supports, removal tools, and 32-way adjustable dampers with highway and city presets. All the key components come manufactured from aluminum to minimize their weight, and the tuner even says it will conduct repairs should some parts wear out.
Once installed, the kit is said to improve cornering performance, steering responsiveness, overall driving smoothness, and body stability at higher speeds. Body-on-frame SUVs are usually prone to strong side swaying, and Blitz claims this issue is addressed as well.
The above notwithstanding, the DAMPER ZZ-R package is not exactly an upgrade meant for serious off-road use. It reduces the ground clearance by 13 mm (0.5 inches) at the front and 38 mm (1.5”) at the rear. By the end of the year, Blitz will be launching another tuning kit that will raise the clearance by 59 mm (2.3”) front and 25 mm (1”) rear.
Last summer, the company introduced a Roots supercharger upgrade for the 2.7-liter version of the Prado. Outfitted like this, the SUV is able to produce 199 PS (196 hp / 146 kW) and 301 Nm (222 lb-ft) of torque – watch the video for a brief demo.
