Study praises Tesla charging network as ‘the most reliable’ in the USA

J.D. Power Agency has published a study of the reasons prompting an increasing number of electric vehicle makers to adopt the charging port standard designed by Tesla Inc. The paper argues that the company’s Supercharger network is the largest and most reliable in all of the United States.

The experts point out that using other charging stations comes with the risk of unforeseen difficulties preventing EV owners from successfully charging their cars in 21.6% of cases. For Supercharger stations, the risk of issues occurring is at a low 3.9%.

In addition to the above, the Supercharger network is the largest nationwide with nearly 19,500 ports already open and new ones being added on a regular basis.

A poll among Tesla users revealed that most of them were satisfied with their EV charging experiences (734 points out of 1000). For General Motors, the same indicator is at a low 586, and Ford is even farther down the list with 544.

According to J.D. Power, it is the versatility, reliability and accessibility of Supercharger stations that led so many automakers to switch to the NACS charging port standard. Based on the results of the study, Automotive News doesn’t rule out the possibility of it becoming the leading national standard in the future.
