Expert predicts an iconic status, but low demand for the Tesla Cybertruck

Despite the 1.6 million pre-orders placed for the Tesla Cybertruck since its debut date four years ago, the electric pickup would be lucky to find even just 50,000 buyers per year, writes Investing.com referencing a market study conducted by Morgan Stanley.

The U.S.-based financial corporation believes that the Cybertruck is an important constituent part of its manufacturer’s image, but other than being a halo model of sorts, it carries little economic importance. The weird design proved successful among fans, but once it becomes more and more familiar to the masses, that interest will quickly diminish. In the end, the wonky truck will remain a choice primarily favored by the enthusiasts, but not the average consumer, Morgan Stanley argues.

Tesla unveiled a production-close version of the Cybertruck in early March, which looked considerably different from the earlier prototypes. The pilot production is now scheduled to start this summer, but we will have to wait until at least the next year for it to reach full capacity. Knowing Tesla, there are simply no guarantees regarding the production terms.
