Bugatti Chiron runs a drag race against a Tesla Model S Plaid

DragTimes has decided to see once and for all which one is faster: the world-famous Bugatti Chiron or the electric upstart, Tesla Model S Plaid. Obvious feature differences aside, the two supercars come dangerously close to each other on the drag strip.

Powering the Bugatti is an eight-liter, quad-turbo W16 pumping out 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW). The car tips the scales at around 2,000 kilos (4,400 pounds) and needs 2.4 seconds for its 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint.

The Plaid promises similar performance for a small fraction of the price, starting from $140,000 in the USA. Its triple electric motors drive the wheels with 1,020 PS (1,006 hp / 750 kW). The American EV is also around 200 kg (440 pounds) heavier, but actually sprints faster than the Chiron does at 2.1 seconds.

Will the power advantage and the supercar genes of the Bugatti enable it to outpace one of the world’s fastest production vehicles? See for yourself!
