ITHome.cn has posted an image of what looks like the refreshed Tesla Semi freighter, but the company has yet to confirm its authenticity, No facelift plans have been announced so far.
If the photo is real, then the Semi is looking forward to trading its large vertical headlights for slim horizontal ones, like on the new Model Y. The side windows appear slightly smaller, and the front fenders look redesigned as well. Everything else appears to be unchanged.
Unofficial sources claim that the new Semi will also be a more efficient truck than its predecessor and come equipped with more useful options. Superior motors and cargo capacity are possible, but not officially announced yet. The production may start in Q2 2026, but the deliveries will likely have to wait until Q4.
The original Tesla Semi was announced in 2017 (see video). It finally reached production in December 2022 following numerous delays and supply issues. A report came in in late 2023 that the company had only managed to put together several dozen trucks for commercial clients in a year. Since Tesla is keeping silent about the details, we suppose these reports could be true. In that case, the Semi is clearly not ready for the mass market yet.
