SAR-based tuner uses junk to build a street-legal car like no other

Oefentse Mphatsoe, 26, admits he had never dealt with cars on a professional level before. Instead, he simply wanted something special and eye-catching for himself to drive. Care to guess what the donor was?

The project is called Tazzla, but any associations you may have with Tesla have nothing to do with reality. Underpinning the build is the elderly Toyota Corolla E90, known in the South African Republic as the Tazz. As for the new bodywork, it is obviously inspired by Michael Bay’s “Transformers” movie franchise. Some of the highlights include butterfly-wing doors, a highly detailed and complex body, and a red-and-black color scheme with narrow-slit yellow eyes for headlights.

Making the whole thing seem even more outlandish is the fact that it utilizes plenty of junk parts and body trim pieces manually cut from metal and plastic.

Mphatsoe, whose primary occupation is in the IT, has only recently enlisted on welding courses. He is the first to admit that the Tazzla may not be perfect on a number of counts, but proudly points out that it is street-legal and eminently drivable.

And what do you think of this bizarre project?
