Netherlands-based car tuning company Autoforma has teamed up with Volvo Lotte to bring us an exemplary restomod of the wagon-shaped Volvo P1800 ES. It is scheduled for production at a maximum rate of five vehicles per year, each priced at €300,000 before extensive customization options.
Surprisingly, the exterior of the restomod stays perfectly recognizable and in line with the original design. The bodywork seems to be largely the same, although LED headlights and taillights do lend it a modern touch. Same goes for the rear spoiler and custom, larger wheels installed in flared fenders. A roof rack and chrome accents are listed under options.
The interior has the same layout but benefits from a brand-new and luxurious trim scheme that combines natural leather, wool and wood with metallic accents. The old seats, radio and AC are gone, replaced with modern buckets, infotainment unit and climate control system. There are no photos of the passenger area yet, but Autoforma assures us it will look completely different from one example to another.
All propulsion is still handled by Volvo’s five-cylinder turbo engine paired with an automatic transmission. The power and torque numbers aren’t available, but we are told that the steering, the brakes and the suspension have all been overhauled for a more modern driving feel.
You can find the project listed as Norrsken, which apparently means “Northern Light”. Preorders are already running.
