Bufori, a Malaysian car company founded by the Hyori brothers in 1988, has been mostly spending its time releasing sports cars styled after vintage vehicles of the 1930s. Today, it announced something different: a RWD coupe called the Bufori CS.
In fact, the original Bufori CS debuted ten years ago as a purebred racecar. Ever since, the company has been working on making a street-legal version of it, but struggled with design limitations. It continues the R&D even now, but the vehicle you see here is already a fully functional pre-production sample, so it seems like the launch isn’t too far away.
The Bufori CS is a four-seat (2+2) coupe that measures 4,555 millimeters (14.94 ft.) long wirh 2,620 mm (8.6 ft.) of wheelbase. A 3.6-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder FCA engine sits in its engine bay, delivering up to 320 hp (238 kW) to the rear wheels. The transmission is ZF 8-speed auto, and a limited-slip differential is present, too.
The powertrain isn’t the only thing sourced from FCA, apparently. Much of the cabin reminds us of Chrysler and Jeep vehicles. The multimedia screen measures 7 inches across, and the basic trim covers two airbags and a roll stabilization system.
The company emphasizes that the actual production car will be better than this. To that end, it will get an additional 35 mm (1.4”) of wheelbase, a premium interior trim, and better engines. The abovementioned FCA V6 will be getting a supercharger add-on for around 500 hp (373 kW) at the crank, and a more powerful 6.4-liter Hemi V8 will be available with 750 hp (553 kW). The latter mill will be able to get the car, which weighs 1.4 metric tons (~3,100 lbs) from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds.
The Bufori CS should debut in its final production guise in the first half of 2020.
