Apollo Evo breaks cover in Europe

Apollo, a supercar manufacturer continuing in the tracks of classical German automaker Gumpert, has unveiled its next production vehicle. Called the Evo, it flaunts a particularly bold and aggressive exterior and packs 12 cylinders in the engine bay behind the seats. Only 10 track-only examples will be made and shipped in 2026 and later.

The supercar is based on a concept from four years ago (see video). It sports a rather unique exterior that somehow manages to bring together acute angles and smooth, flowing lines. The aero kit as about as extensive as they come and features a couple of tail fins acting as stabilizers. Butterfly-wing doors swing up to provide access to the cabin, and the same goes for the engine bay cover at the back.

Thanks to being made entirely out of carbon fiber, the bodywork weighs as little as 165 kilos (364 pounds). The whole car tips the scales at roughly 1.3 metric tons, or 2,866 lbs. A 6.3-liter V12 delivers 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 765 Nm (564 lb-ft) of torque, taking the car from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.7 seconds. The top speed is capped at 335 km/h (208 mph). Six-speed sequential is the only transmission type available.

The first deliveries will be made on the 20th anniversary of the original Gumpert Apollo, which also sported a radical design by the standards of its era and proceeded to win the title of the fastest production car on the Nürburgring.
