Audi Q3 gets a Sportback version

Audi has complemented the current Q3 SUV lineup with a coupe-like Sportback variant. While the regular Q3 is already available to preorder in Europe from €44,600, the Sportback will only go on sale in October priced from €46,650 for the same powertrain.

Compared side-by-side with the normal Q3, the coupe-SUV is 29 mm (1.1 inches) lower. As a result, it maxes out at 1,289 liters (45.5 cubic feet) of trunk space instead of 1,386 l (49 cu. ft.). Both numbers are quoted for the maximum volume with the seats folded, as Audi has yet to reveal how big the trunk is with the seats up.

On the upside, you get a sportier body profile, 18-inch standard wheels (up from 17”) and can even go for 20-inch ones if you want those. The S line package is already included in the spec, you just need to choose between silver and black accents.

The rest, including the powertrain options, is identical. Like the standard Q3, the Sportback can be fitted with a fuel-efficient 1.5-liter engine rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. If power is a priority, then a hybrid system rated at 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) is your go-to. This one can sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.8 seconds. It costs from €51,150.

There are also a few options in between. One of them, an AWD spec with a petrol engine and 256 PS (252 hp / 188 kW), weighs less than the hybrid mentioned above and completes the standard sprint in 5.7 seconds. It can also attain 240 km/h (149 mph), while the hybrid doesn’t go beyond 215 km/h (133 mph).
