World’s first Bentley EV spied in production body

Bentley has taken a full-electric prototype SUV to the streets, reports Autoevolution. The spy shots make it look either finalized or at least close to production, which remains scheduled for the next year.

Based on the images, the still-unnamed SUV is smaller than the latest Bentayga. If true, that would make it the British automaker’s most compact utility vehicle so far. It wears a camo wrap along with some fake bodywork, but you can still discern Bentley’s signature stacked headlights, a faux grille, new c-pillars and widened wheel arches. The ground clearance seems to be quite low, too.

While there has been no official announcement yet, rumors suggest that Bentley is borrowing numerous components from Volkswagen Group for its debut SUV EV. As such, it may end up related to the Porsche Macan or the Audi Q6 e-tron. Then again, with the British automaker postponing its full electrification strategy deadline from 2030 to 2035, it could probably afford designing its own car.

A number of design traits make us think of the Bentley Exp 15 concept revealed in early July (see video). Bentley said it was a design preview for its future vehicles, so the semblance isn’t surprising.
