BMW 4-Series convertible gets tuned for faster, smoother AWD driving

Many convertibles, let alone roadsters, are cars only really suitable for summertime driving in good weather. BMW successfully breaks this mold with its heated M440i xDrive model fit for use in most conditions. In turn, suspension specialist H&R makes it ride lower on new, shortened springs.

The whole kit costs around €365 in Germany. Once installed, it drops the ride height by a fixed 40 mm (1.6 inches) at the front and 25 mm (1 inch) at the back. As a consequence, the car looks sportier and handles better at higher accelerations.

Both 2WD and xDrive versions of the 4-Series (G23) are supported starting from the model year 2020. The springs are meant to be installed alongside stock shocks – doesn’t matter if standard, adaptive or M Sport. Wheel spacers for fine-tuning the wheel positions inside the arches are available starting from €72/axle.
