Cadillac’s strongest CT5-V just received another 236 PS from tuners

A U.S.-based car enthusiast named Spencer bought an opulent Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and soon realized that he wasn’t thrilled with its stock 668 horsepower (677 PS / 498 kW). He commissioned Late Model Racecraft for an upgrade – and the result is nothing short of impressive.

According to the tuner, cooling has been the crucial issue of the Blackwing’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 all along. Aside from just running hot, it has the nasty tendency of offloading the heat onto the other components around the engine bay, gradually leading to a general heat buildup that decreases its effectiveness. To combat that, the engineers had to install a high-performance heat exchanger, cobble up an active cooling solution, introduce a cold air intake system and throw in a high-flow exhaust system for good measure.

Further mods included a 1.7-liter, ported aftermarket supercharger, American Racing headers and a sports-grade fuel system. When it was put on the dyno before the tuning, the sedan output 588 PS (580 hp / 432 kW) at the wheels. When the work was complete, it shook the dyno stand with 827 PS (816 hp / 608 kW). That’s a net gain of 236 PS (233 hp / 174 kW) at the wheels – nothing to scoff at!

On the outside, the tuned Caddy remained stock aside from carbon-trimmed exhaust finishers, different wheels and a matte-black full-body wrap. Spencer claims it “pulls like a freight train” when allowed to go full throttle, and we can imagine it being the case.
