Video: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 cosplays as a 1,000-HP Galvatron

However attractive the eighth-gen Chevy Corvette may be, it still falls short of the C7 ZR1 in terms of sheer power. The gap becomes all the more obvious with tuning: check out this example to see just how startling the difference is.

The menacing matte-black ride responds to “Galvatron”, which is the name of the Decepticon arch villain from the Transformers universe. The owner tuned his ‘Vette quite a number of times, and recently decided to swap the stock LS9 engine out for a Dart LS V8 Next Aluminiumblock. The humongous mill was subsequently pushed to around 1,000 hp (750 kW) and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque. The hood cover had to go, but the view was worth it.

The biggest highlight of the drivetrain comes in the form of a Monster LT1-SC clutch rated to withstand torque up to 2,000 Newton-meters (1,475 pound-feet). Watch the video for more details on this great project.
