GM subsidiary imagines a C10 Chevy Corvette

Pasadena Advanced Design, a California-based design studio affiliated with General Motors, has unveiled a series of sketches exploring the potential design of a tenth-generation Chevrolet Corvette. Although the current, eighth generation still mainly runs on gas, the designers argue that the ideal C10 is an all-electric hypercar.

The car depicted has only a passing semblance with the C8 Corvette at the front end. Other than that, it is its own thing – with elaborate aerodynamic fenders, low-drag sides and an active aero setup at the back. The authors of the concept say it is supposed to be made fully out of carbon fiber and prioritizes aerodynamic performance over everything else. You can also see a T-shaped battery pack integrated into the undercarriage.

The whole concept is sized 4,669 x 2,184 x 1,051 mm (182.4 x 85.3 x 41 inches) large with a wheelbase spanning 2,767 mm (108.1 inches). That’s slightly longer and much lower than the C8. Wheels are installed in a staggered fashion, measuring 21” at the front and 22” at the rear. The powertrain details remain undisclosed.

Interestingly, the car is being envisioned as a track day weapon first and foremost. To that end, it doesn’t even have doors: you are supposed to lift the top to get inside.

General Motors asked multiple design studios to fantasize about the C10 Corvette this year, and this is the second concept revealed so far. The first one was penned by the automaker’s design HQ in the UK. It also had a very aggressive exterior but wasn’t presented as a fully electric vehicle.

Once it gets the results of this little design competition, GM plans to produce an actual concept car based on them. Rumors claim it will be built either in Shanghai, China or in Seoul, South Korea, although this remains without official comment.
