A rare 1967 Chevrolet C2 Corvette with what the listing describes as a unique combination of powertrain and exterior finish is heading to its fourth auction in the past 12 months. The owner parted with $3.2 million for it and has been unable to find anyone willing to acquire it for more than $2.7 million so far.
The next sale attempt will take place at Mecum Kissimmee in Florida in January 2026. The listing claims it is the only C2 Corvette in existence to come finished in Rally Red with a 7.0-liter L88 engine under the hood. Back in its glory days, this engine output a manufacturer-rated 435 PS (430 hp / 320 kW), but enthusiasts measured it at 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) or so. Chevrolet reportedly attained such an impressive output in 1967 by implementing racing technology in this fully street-legal engine.
As impressive as that engineering feat sounds for its age, let’s not forget that the ’67 ‘Vette started from U.S. $4,240. The L88 modification cost roughly $1,500 extra, but that’s still just $5,740 total. Whoever bought this particular example clearly envisioned it as a collection piece not to be driven, so it’s still in great condition. At an auction 11 years ago, it changed hands for ridiculous $3,500,000 – more than 600 times its original price. Considering that, one has to wonder whether the owner really stands a chance at flipping it for profit yet once again.
