Entry-level BMW X6 gets a power injection from Manhart

Manhart has been working on many ridiculously expensive tuning projects lately, so an affordable tuning kit for the base-spec BMW X6 xDrive40i came as a welcome change of pace. Officially known as the MHX6 500, the package adds 100 horsepower to the output of the SUV.

From the technical viewpoint, the tuning is as simple as plugging in the company’s MHtronik engine control unit. Once configured, it raises the output to 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft). The tuner also offers new exhaust manifolds for a juicier soundtrack, but they are not street-legal in Germany so you may want to double-check your own country’s legislation before ordering, just in case.

To have something to show for all the work under the hood, Manhart offers 22-inch aftermarket wheels with six pairs of straight, slender spokes. They fit their arches nicely thanks to a moderate reduction in ride height. Further available mods include a front spoiler lip, a rear diffuser and a tailgate spoiler. One might argue that they add aggression, but to be entirely honest, the X6 packs plenty of road presence in OEM form, so the difference may not be that big.

In its usual fashion, Manhart limits its interior mods to minor things like custom wheel spokes, paddle shifters and floor mats. Orders are already open.
