Touring Superleggera works restomod magic on Ferrari 550 Maranello

The so-called Touring Superleggera Veloce12 is a limited-run supercar built on the Ferrari 550 Maranello chassis. It packs only 25 extra horsepower over the stock car, yet manages to cost €690,000 for the conversion alone (donor chassis not included).

At a glance, you’d think it’s a perfectly normal Ferrari 550M, but the fact is that the entire body is designed from the ground up and fabricated from carbon fiber. The head- and taillights are LED-based and benefit from new light patterns.

The V12 under the hood stays untouched, but takes advantage of an overhauled cooling system and a high-flow exhaust. As a result, it outputs 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) to the wheels instead of the usual 485 PS (478 hp / 357 kW).

Touring Superleggera claims that these modifications let the coupe hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds and ultimately reach 320 km/h (199 mph), both major improvements over the stock model.

The 25-year-old chassis also gets overhauled to conform with the modern standards. Brembo brakes replace the outdated stock brakes at all four corners with six-piston calipers at the front axle and four-piston ones at the rear.

The cockpit makes generous use of opulent brown leather. The instrument cluster, the switches and buttons and all the décor inside are new, but you may not notice it outright because the retro design language is preserved.

Only 30 units will be made.
