Ford has patented a technology that should make it easier to carry dogs in your car. It is based on multiple additional sensors and seat power-adjustments to ensure that the dog feels comfy sitting or lying there.
The schematics uploaded to the patent bureau list 64 items included in the patent, but there is no mention from the company when or where they might be implemented.
The feature works like this: first, an interior camera recognizes a dog on a passenger seat. It then analyzes its pose, reclines the seat back if necessary and raises the front seat rim slightly for the pet to feel comfortable.
If the dog happens to weigh more than a certain amount, the car will suppress the seat belt warning and extend the seat pad as much as possible (if the option is installed).
Back in February, Ford showed us another pet-friendly solution. It was a special mode in which the car adjusted the windows and the sunroof, turned on climate control, folded down the seats and even turned on music.
