Watch a tank-swapped Ford Crown Vic fire up its 27-liter engine

A while ago, we reported about a Swedish team of enthusiasts building a unique Ford Crown Victoria powered by a 27-liter Rolls-Royce V12 tank engine. The car has now passed its first power-on test.

In order to accommodate the humongous twelve-banger under the hood of the classical sedan, it had to receive a body transplant first, ending up with a Chevrolet C10 front end. Even so, the term ‘hood’ applies loosely here, because nothing is covered and a few parts of the engine stick inside the cabin.

While the war tank version of the engine produced around 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) in its time, this particular example should reach 2,500 PS (2,465 hp / 1,839 kW) with the assistance of dual turbos and an ECU. The turbo kit was not connected for the initial test in the video.
