Video: 1,000-HP Ford F-150 spins rubber at launch

While pickup trucks have historically been considered utility vehicles first and foremost, their public perception has changed dramatically over the years with people increasingly preferring sportier trucks with hardly any bed space. Criticize this fad all you want, it won’t change the fact that some power junkies just want to see bigger numbers – even if they are already driving a Ford F-150 Raptor R with 730 PS (720 hp / 537 kW).

The example seen here was handed over to Late Model Racecraft for some upgrades. Its 5.2-liter supercharged V8 ended up with Kooks headers, a new throttle body, sports-grade fuel injectors and high-flow catalytic converters. Not least importantly, it also landed with a huge 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger.

Fueled with regular ON93 pump gas, the truck then proceeded to hit the dyno with more than 800 horsepower at the wheels, translating to nearly 1,000 hp at the crank. If you never saw a pickup spin its 37-inch tires when launched, now is the time to do so.
