Geely adds a cheap e-liftback to its business vehicle lineup

Geely’s Maple sub-brand has introduced an all-electric car named Cao Cao 60. According to CarNewsChina, its primary destination is taxi fleets and ridesharing services, so wallet-friendliness was a design priority.

The car starts from 119,800 Chinese Yuan, offers up to 415 km (258 miles) on a charge and supports quick battery swaps. It looks a bit like a coupe-SUV, but the manufacturer calls it a liftback. The body is 4,640 mm (181.25 inches) long with 2,760 mm (107.8 inches) of wheelbase. The trunk area is nearly 1 meter long and 500 liters (17.66 feet) large.

On the outside, the car sports a laconic design with a few unusual features like a lower grille with a trefoil pattern on it and a see-through trim running across the tailgate.

The interior design is reserved and utilitarian with multiple displays installed in all specs. Drivers can use the central screen to manage incoming taxi calls, while the front passenger has a display for themselves. There is a digital dash screen, too, although noticeably smaller than the rest. The power window controls sit on the tunnel in the middle.

Powering the Cao Cao 60 is a front-mounted electric motor rated at 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW). The maximum driving range is available in warmer seasons (+15ºC / +59ºF). In below-zero weather, the range drops to two-thirds of its nominal ratings. That said, Meple claims that replacing the battery pack with a fully charged one should only take one minute at a specially equipped charging station.
