3rd-gen GMC Terrain revealed in the USA

The latest GMC Terrain packs a host of new electronic systems and part-time AWD even in the most basic configuration. There is only one engine option, though.

It is a 1.5-liter turbo mill mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) and 275 Nm (203 lb-ft) of torque. The entry-level Elevation spec will go on sale in late 2024 followed by the AT4 and Denali in 2025.

Even in its cheapest version, the crossover takes advantage from 15 driving and safety aids, as well as heated steering wheel, front seats and windshield (with the heat spots localized below the window wipers). The dashboard accommodates two displays sized 11 and 15 inches across. The screen in the middle supports simultaneous displaying of up to three different applications or browser tabs.

The multimedia system now offers a voice assistant from Google and supports additional app installations. With the in-cabin “video mirror” included, the car can be ordered with up to eight video cameras.

Options for the Elevation spec include a contrasting roof and 17-inch alloy wheels. The AT4 spec coming later will add off-road tires, skid plates and more ground clearance to the list. The luxury-laden Denali will ride on 19- or 20-inch wheels and benefit from premium trim materials all around.
