Man in China covers 500 km (310 mi) at high speed after his Haval H6 fails to brake

A driver in Hunan Province, China, was forced to keep driving at speeds exceeding 100 km/h (62 mph) due to his Haval H6 becoming unresponsive after an internal breakdown. Per AutoHome, the freak accident was caused by a cruise control system failure, an event that the SUV failed to register properly as well.

As a result, the driver says, the car became completely unresponsive to the brake pedal and kept speeding down the road until it ran out of fuel. The owner called police at the earliest convenience, and a force was dispatched to clear up the road and avoid accidents.

The police also contacted Haval for a comment. The manufacturer was able to come up with several emergency brake ideas, none of which worked. The car ultimately skid to a halt as its fuel tank ran dry.

As hard as it might be to believe, no casualties or injuries have been reported. The driver avoided physical harm as well, but complained about extreme stress.

Haval said it was looking into the freak accident.
