One of the most bizarre takes on the Honda CR-V soft-roader is slated to debut on February 28, styled as the Hybrid Racer and cranked up to around 800 horsepower. Here’s the half-minute-long teaser vid the Japanese automaker shared before the reveal.
The project was carried out by Auto Development and Performance Development divisions, as well the company’s Design HQ in North America. The CR-V ended up with an all-new carbon-fiber body, butterfly-wing doors, a large rear wing, lots of air vents all around and red rims. A sportier steering wheel and a roll cage are the main interior highlights.
Little is known about the powertrain at this time. Motor1 USA believes it could be similar or identical to that of the discontinued NSX supercar. That one used a 3.5-liter V6 in tandem with three electric motors for a combined 573 hp (600 hp in Type S spec).
