Honda rolls out a small and stylish e-hatch concept

The Honda Super-N currently being exhibited at the Japan Mobility Show may be a “hot hatch concept” take on the tiny N-One e: model revealed this summer, but the company says it will be mass-produced in 2026 – and not just for Japan, either.

When the N-One e: debuted a few months ago, the automaker advertised it as an ideological successor to the Honda e, which never rose to any significant popularity. The show car tries to address the things that were arguably wrong with the e. For one, it is wearing a bold body kit with flared wheel arches and bumpers, a rear spoiler and a third brake light. For another, it replaces tame standard seats with sportier-looking ones featuring integrated headrests and a brighter trim. The rest of the cabin stays the same, but the new seats look like a welcome addition, nonetheless.

The Super-N electric powertrain now imitates a seven-speed gearbox for the more conservatively minded drivers and synthesizes a fake “engine” soundtrack for what Honda hopes is a “sportier experience.” Last but not least, the N-One e: apparently benefits from a new infotainment UI – a shame it cannot be seen in the photos provided.

What’s especially interesting is that Honda says it intends to sell the tiny hatchback in Europe, in addition to Japan. The domestic market will most likely make do with 64 PS (63 hp / 47 kW), which is the maximum motor output permitted for a Kei car, but the exports version may get a significant power upgrade. This isn’t official yet, but realistically, we expect it to get a boost for Europe.
