Jeep Gladiator Mojave is the new desert-ready build

Jeep has introduced a new version of its Gladiator pickup truck at the ongoing 2020 Chicago Auto Show. Called Mojave, it features everything one needs for traversing the shifting sands.

The greatest improvements were made in the suspension department. The shock absorbers are now Fox-branded, the ride height now amounts to nearly 30 centimeters (12 inches), and the wheelspan is 13 mm broader. The body and axles have also been reinforced for heavy off-road conditions.

Even in its most basic version, the Gladiator Mojave has original 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch Falken Wildpeak versatile off-road tires, but you can opt for mud tires if you want those instead.

A new drive mode called Off-Road Plus adjusts the transmission, throttle response and torque control for maximum efficiency and enables rear differential locking at higher speeds.

The list goes on to include bottom plating, wider sills, and a new hood with air intakes. The latter still conceals the stock 3.6-liter V6 engine with its 285 hp (213 kW) and 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission can be either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, and AWD with a two-speed transfer case is included by default.

Aside from the above, the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler will soon be available in a new luxury trim version called High Altitude. This one comes with satellite navigation, 8.4-inch infotainment, LED lighting, 20-inch wheels, and leather trim on the seats, front panel, and doors.
