Chery Group brand Jetour has opened the preorder books for the new Shanhai L7 Plus crossover. Essentially a new generation of the Jetour X70, it costs from 139,900 to 189,900 Yuan and has more range than ever – more than the manufacturer had promised earlier, in fact.
Back when it was announced, the Shanhai L7 Plus was OEM-rated at 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) of range on a full gas tank and battery. It is now officially rated at 1,630–1,700 km (1,012–1,056 miles) depending on your chosen spec.
The powertrain is known as the Kunpeng C-DM and features a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). The engine makes use of a large 70-liter gas tank and boasts a thermal efficiency of 44.5%.
In turn, the e-motor supplies 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of its own. It can be plugged into a battery pack either 18.67 or 32.66 kilowatt-hours large. The all-electric range amounts to 121 km (75 miles) for the former and 220 km / 136 miles) for the latter. Topping up from 30 to 80% takes 19 minutes under optimal conditions.
Customers can choose between a five-seat and a seven-seat cabin. Both feature an infotainment system based on two displays 10.25 and 15.6 inches large. The bigger display in the middle can automatically swivel to face the driver or the front passenger upon receiving a voice command to do so. Other features include ventilated massage seats, a mini-fridge for the cabin and a large freezer for the trunk.
