Lamborghini gets ready to discontinue the Aventador

Lamborghini has confirmed selling out the entire Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae farewell series (featured in our gallery here) and stopped taking new orders for its 12-cylinder supercar flagship. Current orders will continue to be processes at the St. Agata Bolognese plant until the end of 2021, after which the company will switch attention to the revived Countach.

The Aventador hit the market ten years ago and ultimately proved the Italian marque’s single most successful supercar in history, selling over 10,000 coupes and roadsters in the standard spec alone (there were also seven spin-off models based on it, not included in this statistic).

Depending on the version, the car could get up to 780 PS (769 hp / 574 kW) out of its 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. A Graziano seven-speed DCT drove all four wheels.

A successor model to the Aventador will be revealed in late 2021 or early 2022. Market observers tend to believe that it will be a V12-based non-turbo hybrid supercar based on supercapacitor tech, like the Sian and the new Countach.
