Kimera’s take on the modern Lancia 037 has AWD

Kimera Automobili has shed some light on a new installment in its Evo sports car series, essentially an unofficial revival of the legendary Lancia 037. Compared to the old “Evo37” model, the new “Evo38” promises to be much more dynamic thanks to a superior engine and four driven wheels – something neither the original nor any of its replicas had.

The new Evo38 Ultima Evoluzione is being advertised as an “Integrale” of sorts – more powerful and driver-focused than the standard car. It features a revised aerodynamic kit with larger air intakes and rear wing, strongly flared fenders and a big rear diffuser. New shock absorbers take advantage of electronic control, and new rally-style wheels come shod in Pirelli P Zero tires.

The engine block stays the same in name: it’s still a 2.1-liter turbocharged four-pot. However, an improved turbo setup along with other modifications allow it to pump out roughly 20% more power, or around 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW). The exact numbers are still unknown. What we do know is that the car relies on a six-speed manual transmission with tight gear ratios to drive all four wheels.

All dynamic performance numbers also remain to be revealed. The same goes for the interior, which Kimera claims has been completely reworked.

Only 38 units will be made. Later on, the company plans to unveil a third version of the car, called the Evo39 and even more track-focused than its predecessors.
